Notes on the Akiba website

Unattributed "quotes" littered throughout Akiba's website:

"Because Akiba's Middle School is attached to a high school rather than an elementary school, our students are challenged to do more."
Yeah... like avoid being stepped on.

"Learning at Akiba is fun. Teachers challenge us to reach beyond what we know and discover even more."
Yeah... I'm SURE a student said THAT.

"Akiba teachers are the best. They really care about us and they challenge us every day to do our best."
That's why they're paid so generously.

"The First Library at Akiba is a haven for me. I look forward to spending time there, working on my homework."
Who DOESN'T look forward to doing homework?

"The computer lab really helped me develop a natural French accent."
No comment necessary.

"Hebrew, taught on all levels, is one of my favorite subjects at Akiba."
Again, do you think ANY student said this???

"Akiba students are among the best in the world."
Who said this? The Philphinator? The person who made the website?

"Akiba made applying for college as stress free as possible."
Uh, no.

"It was easier to talk with the people from Penn's admissions department here at Akiba rather than in their offices on campus."
Again, no comment necessary.

Center City trio

I like the reflection on the far tower.

I spotted this randomly in the sidewalk. No clue what it means.

My pictures are beginning to bore me.

Biker... likely European

A blog is born!

A *bonk* Q&A.

What is *bonk*?
*bonk* is the sound my head makes when it hits the keyboard after I run out of energy at 12:30am.

What is this *bonk* blog?
This blog will be a little of everything. It will be life updates and announcements (eg. "I'M GETTING MARRIED! WEDDING IS THIS APRIL! RSVP ASAP."), various creative posts, such as stories, drawings, and photos (lots of photos), and it will also serve as a forum to discuss controversial issues of the day (eg. "is it the heat, or is it the humidity?).

Is it the heat or is it the humidity?
The humidity.

What about the old blog, "Adventures of Highland Avenue"?
"Adventures of Highland Avenue" was a great blog for its purpose. However, it was very specific to Akiba. Especially the title. So it's time to move on. "Adventures" will remain up for your viewing pleasure, but it is, for all intensive purposes, done.

The old blog had various contributors. Will this one be a team effort, or will it be a one man show?
I don't know. I'm thinking I could have additional contributors to the forum aspect of the blog. If you want to be considered for membership to *bonk*, e-mail me.

Are you really getting married?
I don't think so. If I'm wrong, please let me know ASAP.

What about the old system of putting photos on the 'Photos' section of your site?
That's a pain to do. This way, you'll see more photos, more often. If I'm not lazy, I'll continue to organize them in that section, but don't bet your Aunt Molly's chocolate chip cookies on it.

*bonk* looks pretty ugly right now.
So's your face.

Will you marry me?
